Serostim® [somatropin (rDNA origin) for injection]
Serostim® is a recombinant human growth hormone that has been shown in clinical studies to increase lean body mass and body weight, improve patient's physical function and health-related quality of life outcomes.
Serostim® works by interacting with specific cells to retain and build lean body mass, which includes muscle, organ tissue and body fluids. Serostim® is administered by subcutaneous needle injection or by SeroJet®.
Important Safety Information
Serostim® should not be used in patients with active cancer and in those with known reactions to growth hormone. Serostim® should not be used in patients hospitalized in an Intensive Care Unit for serious injury, surgery or illness. Patients with a history of elevated blood sugar, such as diabetes, or other risk factors for glucose intolerance should be monitored closely during Serostim® therapy.
