In June 2009, The Boston Business Journal recognized EMD Serono as one of the Best Places to Work, ranking number 12 in the large company category. Employees of nominated companies were asked to complete an online survey featuring categories such as: work environment, work-life balance, job satisfaction, advancement opportunities, management, compensation and benefits.

In May 2009, The Scientist magazine named EMD Serono as a best place to work in the life sciences industries, ranking number 9 out of the top large life sciences organizations worldwide. The survey yielded responses from over 200 life sciences companies worldwide and ranked respondents' working environment according to 45 criteria in 8 different categories, including job satisfaction, benefits, training and integrity. EMD Serono received high scores in the categories of Training & Development and Remuneration & Benefits.

EMD Serono Named as a Top Employer by Science Magazine
On October 9, 2008, EMD Serono was named by Science magazine as a top employer in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, ranking number 7 out of the top 20 employers across the life sciences.  The ranking is a result of the survey conducted by Science, which sought to determine which biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies were most admired by people who work in the field, and why.  This is the second year EMD Serono has appeared on the Science Top Employer list.

In 2007, EMD Serono received an award from the American Cancer Society in recognition and appreciation of the company’s outstanding support and tireless efforts in the fight against cancer through Daffodil Days.

In 2006, EMD Serono’s FertilityLifeLines.com won top honors in the DTC National Advertising Awards for the Best Non-Branded Website from DTC Perspectives, Inc., the leader in DTC Marketing Media and Conferences. The DTC National Advertising Awards recognize excellence in direct to consumer communication. Fertility LifeLines™ is a free, confidential educational service about fertility provided by EMD Serono to help women understand their fertility status and options for increasing fertility.

In 2007, EMD Serono’s mslifelines.com won the W3 award in the healthcare category section. The W3 Award is sanctioned by the International Academy of Visual Arts and honors creative excellence on the web, and web marketing programs. mslifelines.com is a comprehensive, educational website about multiple sclerosis that also provides information regarding support services and resources available on managing and living with multiple sclerosis.
