Tom Gunning
Thomas Gunning is Vice President and General Counsel at EMD Serono, where he is responsible for managing the organization’s US legal affairs. In this role, he also provides legal guidance on policy issues related to the bio/pharma environment as a member of the company’s Health Policy Forum. Previously, Mr. Gunning was Associate General Counsel for EMD Serono’s Reproductive Health division. He joined the company in 2002.
Mr. Gunning spent the first 15 years of his legal career at the Boston office of Nixon Peabody LLP. At Nixon Peabody LLP, Mr. Gunning was a partner in the Corporate Law Department and served as chair of its Intellectual Property Group and co-chair of its Emerging Business Group. Mr. Gunning represented start-up and established companies in the biotech, medical device, software, internet/e-commerce and alternative energy industries and angel and venture capital funds focusing on those sectors.
Mr. Gunning is a graduate of the Boston University School of Law and Fairfield University.
