Powering Our Future in the Seaport

I’m fresh off our 2024 kickoff meeting, known as the Summit – a time to celebrate the previous year’s successes, align on our priorities, and ensure our readiness for the future. 
 

And we had much to celebrate from 2023. Our team outperformed and kept our foot on the pedal to make a difference in the lives of patients and their caregivers, always with their needs front and center. 

Celebrating our success is important; however, our focus remains forward, as 2024 will be a turning point year for EMD Serono. We must turn the page and remain as resolute as ever to continue our endeavors to create, improve and prolong the lives of patients. 

Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany - our global parent company - is at a critical inflection point, and the U.S. market is key to our global Healthcare innovation strategy. There is a window of opportunity for us to further enhance our U.S. presence and position us for even stronger growth, as today we deliver important therapeutic options to more than 150,000 oncology, multiple sclerosis (MS) and fertility patients in the U.S. 

That is why we made the decision late last year to invest in our future by moving our U.S. Healthcare headquarters to Boston’s Seaport district. ​The Seaport location will reinvigorate EMD Serono, bringing our vibrant culture to life in the center of the globally leading healthcare innovation hub of Boston. We will reshape and rethink how we work, enabling us to be productive, collaborative, and flexible. 

At the same time, we will seamlessly optimize and prepare for the future. Whether in bringing new products to market, or identifying novel collaborations to advance our success – the Seaport is the place to do it, signaling our aspirations to become a true contender in the US healthcare space. 

Importantly, this move will mark the first of several important milestones in our journey to bring further innovation to address high unmet medical needs in areas where patients rely on us. But this is just the start – if we realize our ambitions, we will set ourselves on a course for future success.
