Monia Vial

Monia Vial is the President of EMD Serono, leading the healthcare business across the U.S. and Canada and serving as a member of the Healthcare Executive Committee. In this role, she is responsible for the company’s strategy, performance and growth for the North America region, working with cross-functional teams to advance a portfolio and pipeline focused on delivering meaningful outcomes for patients.

Monia has more than 20 years of experience in pharmaceutical leadership across various therapeutic areas – such as rare disease, oncology and hematology – including hands-on management of product launches, lifecycle management, pipeline development and asset acquisition.

Prior to EMD Serono, Monia held roles of increasing scope and responsibility over nearly eight years at Ipsen Biopharmaceuticals, most recently serving as Senior Vice President and Head of the U.S. Rare Disease Business Unit. Previously, her career spanned high-impact roles across the pharmaceutical industry, including Shire Pharmaceuticals, Bristol Myers Squibb, and AstraZeneca, as well as consulting. In addition to extensive international experience across the U.S. and Europe, she has built expertise across oncology, cardiovascular and specialty markets.

Monia holds a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from the University of Pharmacy in Paris and a master’s degree in marketing from HEC Paris. She is trilingual in English, French and Arabic.
